My Definition of Education

How I define education:  Education is learning. It is not only learning things such as math, or science, but also life lessons as well. It is about learning things such as morals and values. There are many different aspects that make up education, and it is learned throughout a person's whole life. No one knows everything, and people can be educated by others of all different ages, races, and genders. There are no barriers on education.

The dictionary definition of education is the process of receiving or giving systematic instructions, especially at school.

Education is not solely at school. School is a place where students are meant to be educated, but there are many other ways for a person to be educated about topics that are not taught in the classroom.

  1. I understand your personal definition for education and I agree with you. Education shouldn't be solely defined as learning academic subjects at school; it should include the realizations and revelations that people make everyday that allow them to grow and become better and wiser.

  2. "There are no barriers on education" This is so right. People should not really just focus at academic like science on arithmetic. It is a life long thing for everyone. Even my grandmother is learning every day by communicating with people in the society. People can really be educated anywhere and anytime.

  3. I really liked your closing paragraph. Most of the learning I, myself, find to have been the most important occurred outside of the classroom. Hopefully education does not end up becoming what its dictionary definition is, because it's so much more than that! Education can be anything we want it to be! I really liked your lines, "No one knows everything, and people can be educated by others of all different ages, races, and genders. There are no barriers on education." This is very true, in that even the most intelligent person world can still be taught something. Thank you for sharing.

  4. I like how you simplified the definition of education. It is learning, but learning about more then just one thing. It is for learning about sciences, maths, histories, but also learning about yourself. Your right in saying "no one knows everything" how ever some people like to think so, there is always room for more learning.

  5. Your definition for education is one of the best I have read. I completely agree with how you said it's about learning morals and values, and it's not solely school. In my point of view, the purpose of education is to build a harmonious society where people can live their live meaningfully. How you defined education really inspired me. Thanks for sharing.
